LifeWave Y-Age Aeon Patch
Improves Bedtime Breathing
I have a patient who I’ll call Fred. I recently sent Fred to my colleague, Marie McMahon, LMT, who is a cranial sacral therapist. I referred him because he had suffered two really bad falls during last years’ winter season and I’ve learned that these types of jarring falls can wreck havoc on people’s nervous systems long after the original “trauma” has passed.
When Marie worked with Fred, she became very concerned because Fred stopped breathing several times when he fell asleep (as he often does) during his cranial session. I had no idea this was happening and when I questioned Fred, he confirmed that lately he’d been waking up at night “gasping” for air.
“Yikes!” I thought! Well, we immediately suggested that Fred ask his regular doctor to refer him to a sleep specialist to evaluate his sleep. In the meantime, I asked Fred if he’d be willing to try patching his head with the LifeWave Aeon patch while he slept and he agreed. Fred had been patching the top of his head, GV 20 during the day but I told him to switch it to night time on the acupuncture point behind his right ear, Triple Burner 17.
The reason I wanted him to try this point was because I suspected that his respiratory distress may be associated with brainstem issues (where the respiratory centers are located in the nervous system), and the point behind the ear is in close proximity to the brainstem.
Fred reported that from the very first night of patching with Aeon at night, he slept soundly. In fact, he said he didn’t wake up at all the first four nights and he woke up with much more energy and focus. He also lost about five pounds of extra weight he’d been carrying due to the stressors of having poor sleep. In case you’re not aware, we release many important hormones when we sleep and since he was sleeping poorly for months, he couldn’t release those hormones…and that made him fatter than he should be!
Needless to say, Fred is a very happy camper at this point. He has a lot more energy during the day, his sleep is restful and he’s losing excess weight. And of course, he’s no longer gasping for air at night! It will be interesting to see if the condition totally resolves itself before he has a chance to see the specialist.
So for people that may be having trouble breathing while sleeping, first and foremost, go see your doctor! Then while you await evaluation, try patching the right TB17 point with the LifeWave Y-Age Aeon patch at night to see if it helps. The Aeon patch helps with inflammation and stress, so it makes sense that it might help with re-balancing a “stressed” or inflamed brainstem. If you have comments, please post them!
