Please note that when we mention the Yin/Yang patch pair, we mean a pairing of two patches, whereby the one on the left is relatively yin compared to the patch on the right.
Examples of Yin/Yang phototherapy patching pairs are:
- Energy Enhancer: Tan patch is yin, White patch is yang
- IceWave: Tan patch is yin, White patch is yang
- SP6C patch: Worn on the left (yin), Aeon patch on the right (yang)
- X39 patch: Worn on the left (yin), X49 patch on the right (yang)
Yin/Yang meridians pair also refers to patching a Yin acupuncture point on the left side of the body and a Yang acupuncture point on the right side of the body that belongs to the same element. Examples of Yin/Yang element pairings:
- Earth: Spleen/Stomach
- Metal: Lung/Large Intestine
- Water: Kidney/Bladder
- Wood: Liver/Gallbladder
- Fire: Pericardium/Triple Burner (more emotional) or Heart/Small Intestine (more physical)
Topics Discussed
During the spring season, for symptoms such as runny nose, itchy eyes, sneezing, post-nasal drip, Bladder 13 is as as good for clearing lungs as Lung 9. The lungs may feel congested with the pollen floating around.
Dr. Dennis suggested a magnetic hammer to stimulate the Bladder 13 points (or to reach the acupuncture point).
During this event, Dr. Karen and Dr. Dennis discussed the Nirvana product and the regulation of the dopamine neurons and endorphin production. Nirvana can support a balanced mood and perhaps even relieve discomfort. However, as of the date of this episode, it is unknown when the Nirvana patch will be available again for purchase.
Patching for sneezing and lung issues @ 13:00
Dr. Dennis recommended Bladder 13 and Lung 9 points to support clearing congestion from sneezing. He described locating bladder 13 between the scapulae.
Acupuncture points to support thyroid issues @ 48:50
The Stomach 9 acupuncture point was recommended to regulate thyroid function.
Dr. Karen warned of food intolerance effects and suggested avoiding dairy and gluten. Food intolerance and diet effects on fatigue @ 1:23:20
Acupuncture point stimulation strategies for chronic fatigue @ 1:35:20
Dr. Karen encouraged exploring non-physical causes, and Dr. Dennis added Small Intestine and Kidney point strategies.
Spiritual and emotional causes of physical symptoms were discussed @ 1:37:00
Not being heard on deeper issues could manifest physically. Dr. Karen prompted exploring this to change perceptions and enact healthy relationship boundaries.
Invitation to the Light Medicine community for further discussion regarding emotional and spiritual contributors to persistent symptoms: www.karenkan.com/community.

Q & A Callers
Sandra K
Q: What is a protocol recommendation for high-pitched ringing in both ears?
- The ears are the window to the kidneys, so tonifying the kidneys helps.
- Stimulate Qi and tonify the Life Gate Governing Vessel 4 by using X39.
- Aeon on the right and SP6C on the left can stimulate Bladder 23, the back Shu point for the Kidney meridian.
- If you can’t reach the back points, use Energy Enhancer patches on Kidney 3 bilaterally on the inside ankle.
- If this doesn’t work, try patching on the Liver Meridian. Liver 3 is a good point in general.
- Spleen 6 point is a good point to address both Kidney, Liver, and Spleen meridians and is an alternative to both Kidney and Liver points.
Tah
Q: How can I support not losing muscle when releasing fat?
- Exercise while using X39 and X49. The studies support fat loss and muscle preservation.
- Resistance exercise will maintain or build muscle—the more muscle, generally, the better the fat loss.
Wilma
Q: I have been using IceWave for chronic body pain. Can I change to another set immediately, or must I wait 12 hours?
- You may continue using IceWave for pain relief as long as it works. However, you may rotate the acupuncture points or take a few hour’s break if needed.
- If the IceWave becomes habitual, try changing its placement to see if it helps (reposition to find the sweet spot). Use the Clock Method for regional pain. If the pain is chronic, try the white in the center and rotate the tan around the area.
- Double IceWave patching may help move the Qi. It involves a set of IceWave on Kidney 1 or Bladder 57 and a second set of IceWave on the upper body points. Options include Heart 3, Triple Burner 5, Lung 7, or Triple Burner 15. Blockages in the back can cause discomfort. The Bladder 57 points on the calves are suitable for this symptom.
Tasha
Q: What is a patching protocol to support an imbalanced thyroid?
- Consider activating Stomach 9 with an Energy Enhancer or IceWave on either side of the neck. You can use any other yin/yang patch pairing (see above).
- Glutathione patches are often used for throat issues, but they can also be used on Conception Vessel 22 at the base of the neck to support the thyroid region.
- Thyroid issues are sometimes considered part of the Kidney/Marrow energy, and using Kidney 3 or the Life Gate GV4 is helpful for fatigue.
- Kidney 6 acupuncture points help regulate ACTH hormones and, thus, energy. They can be used instead of Kidney 3 if desired.
Glory
Q: What is a patching protocol for symptoms of a headache and sore eyes from staring at the computer screen?
- Dr. Quila used to put Carnosine on an eye mask (center). This strategy may help activate acupuncture points near the eye, such as Governing Vessel 24.5.
- Moisturize the eye by blinking more often (less blinking happens when we stare at a screen)
- Blue light-blocking apps, such as f.lux for the PC, glasses, screens, and bulbs, can help prevent eye strain from excess artificial blue light.
Christine
Q: What is a patching protocol for brain fog, brain focus, low energy, excessive sweating, and weight gain?
- Dr. Dennis suggested a detox. Clearing the fat cells can help shrink them. The Five Elements Patching Strategy may be helpful.
- The back Shu point for the blood is Bladder 17.
- Kidney acupuncture points may help blood/marrow to regulate blood.
- Aeon patches for brain balancing may be helpful.
Note: Christine mentioned patching on the Pericardium/Triple Burner meridians has been helpful (fire element).
Marg
Q: How do you patch for fatigue related to low iron and/or possible infections? Symptoms such as low energy during mid-morning.
- Resonating with a “dis-ease” blueprint may cause it to stay. Dr. Karen advised letting go of attachments to any disease names.
- Five Elements Patching Strategy using Energy Enhancer
- Rotate the Energy Enhancer brochure points for 3 weeks.
- Continue Liver 13 with a single patch such as Aeon, Glutathione, or X39.
Note: Marg has been using Aeon on the Liver 13 (spleen time according to the Chinese clock).
Denise
Q: What is a patching protocol recommendation for a fullness feeling in the ear (eustachian tube congestion), dizziness, and nausea?
- Using Small Intestine 19 in front of the ear. Small intestines related to changing your “filters.” It’s a great idea to stimulate the small intestine points.
- According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, to drain Damp and clear Heat:
- Spleen 9 – Sp6C patch on the left and Aeon on the right
- Large Intestine 11 – Place the white Energy Enhancer on the outer elbow area (one or two sets).
- Stomach 44 – using the tan Energy Enhancer, place on the top of the foot (one or two sets)
- Alternatively, you may try Aeon on the right of Stomach 40
Note: Denise has been using IceWave on the mastoid bone and Aeon on the right on Triple Burner 17.
