Examples of Yin/Yang phototherapy patching pairs are:
Yin/Yang meridians pair also refers to patching a Yin acupuncture point on the left side of the body and a Yang acupuncture point on the right side of the body that belongs to the same element. Examples of Yin/Yang element pairings:
Ask The Doctors Topics
Dr. Karen Kan provided a disclaimer that LifeWave patches are not intended to cure, treat or prevent any disease. Precautions were mentioned for children, pregnant/breastfeeding women, and those with serious medical conditions.
Lymphatic System
Dr. Dennis recommended bladder point 17 and kidney point 3 to support lymph drainage and red blood cell production. Movement, rebounding, and dredging patches along channels were also suggested to stimulate lymph.
Ear issues
Dr. Dennis recommended small intestine point 19 on the ear and gallbladder point 8 above to address ear wax and hearing issues. Kidney points 3 and 23, and stomach point 40 were also suggested.
Heavy Menstrual Periods
Dr. Dennis recommended liver point 41, spleen point 4, and pericardium point 6 to address heavy periods from liver/spleen imbalance. X39 on conception vessel 8 was also suggested under a dragon’s blood resin.
After Chemotherapy and Mastectomy
Dr. Dennis recommended detox patches like ion and glutathione due to their anti-aging properties post-chemo. Stomach channel dredging and points like 44 were also suggested.
Blood Issues
Earth imbalance causing blood/lymph issues was discussed. Spleen point 4, pericardium point 6, liver points 3 and 41, and a 5-element rotation with earth/wood emphasis were recommended.
Germ Theory vs Terrain Theory
The history of these competing theories was examined, emphasizing the body’s self-healing vs a germ-centric view. Addressing the energetic cause of disease vs symptoms was highlighted.
Healthwise Clinic Approach
Dr. Dennis explained that their private membership model focuses on energy medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine principles, using various tools, including patches, administratively, while respecting constitutional law.
Q & A Callers
Kadri
Q: How can the lymphatic system be improved?
- Dr. Dennis: Lymph is part of blood. The influential point is Bladder 17 (level of T7) on both sides. You can patch either or both of these points with phototherapy if you choose. You can move the body to move lymph, which removes toxins from cells. You can dredge meridians or lymph channels holding patches in your hand and move them along. But bouncing is extremely helpful as well (rebounding with a Cellerciser, for example). You can also use a vibration plate to support lymph movement.
- Lowering inflammation is helpful. Dr. Dennis would personally add. Aeon and Glutathione patches support the production of anti-oxidants in the body.
Karen
Q: Blood support for someone who can’t make that much blood any longer?
- Using Bladder 17 as above
- Consider the Kidney 3 points to support blood marrow
Joanne W.
Q: Support with ear wax and hearing issues?
- Excessive ear wax could be excess damp and phlegm in Chinese medicine
- The Listening Place, Small Intestine 19 is located in front of the ear (tragus)
- The ear is the window to the kidneys so tonifying the kidney through Kidney 3 or Bladder 23 can be highly supportive.
- Stomach 40 helps to disperse phlegm and it is located on the front part of the shin. You can also pair the left Spleen 9 to drain damp along with the right Stomach 40 using a Yin/Yang pairing of phototherapy.Â
Joyce R + Patrice
Q: Support for someone over age of 70 who experiences difficulty walking and stiffness in the groin area after five minutes
- Dr. Karen said that a medical evaluation may be helpful to rule out poor blood supply to the area and/or stenosis of the spine causing encroachment on the spinal cord
- Dr. Dennis intuitively felt that using the Life Gate Governing Vessel 4 (X49) point in conjunction with Governing Vessel 2 (X39) on the back, along with Aeon on the Conception Vessel 2 on the front, could send energy to the area of the pelvis and hips.
- Adding Gallbladder 41 on both feet using a yin/yang patch pair would complete a triangle of energy.Â
- Recommended Phototherapy patches: Aeon, X39, X49
Marsella
Q: What are useful acupuncture points following a mastectomy and chemotherapy of the left breast?
- Dr. Dennis feels that detoxification is a good idea to get Qi and Blood moving.Â
- Using IceWave on the Stomach channel, such as Stomach 44 (tan patch on the left) and white patch above the breast on the stomach channel, will help to move Qi in this channel and increase its flow through the breast area. IceWave works best in Qi movement, according to Dr. Dennis.
- After chemotherapy, five elements rotation with acupuncture points can be helpful to rebalance the body’s energy and support the body in its detoxification abilities. Any Yin-Yang patch pair (patches with white and tan) may be used.
- If excess detoxification symptoms are absent (extreme fatigue, headache, etc.), you can add Glutathione to Conception Vessel 12 for extra detoxification.
- Post chemo, Dr. Karen Kan said that she would personally use phototherapy such as X39, Aeon, Energy Enhancers, and possibly the addition of X49, Glutathione, and Carnosine.Â

Q: Symptoms: blood is viscous, fatigue, weakness, SOB, bleeding gums, bruising, heavy menstrual periods, and more
- Liver energy is responsible for menstrual flow. A lot of spleen-related issues including unhappy gums, bruising, and menstrual issues. That’s called Reckless Blood in Chinese Medicine when the blood comes out of the vessels where it is supposed to be. Liver 3 helps disperse stagnant Qi.
- Energy Enhancer patches for overall weakness would be helpful. You can opt to use the Liver 3 and Gallbladder 41 and a Spleen 4 and Stomach 39 combination more often in the 5 Elements Detoxification strategy just to give additional support to these WOOD and EARTH elements.
- Although not elemental, you can also add to the rotation a Spleen 4 and Pericardium 6 combination. Spleen 4 helps the uterus.Â
- An addition of X39 can be placed on the centerline, belly button Conception Vessel 8 point. Dragon’s blood resin or herb can be helpful, perhaps even underneath the patch, for additional energetic support.
