How to Patch Your Thumb with LifeWave IceWave Patches
Crafting is one of the many things I enjoy in life that is dependent on the use and dexterity of my fingers. So imagine how I felt when one morning I woke up to find my left thumb painfully popping as I opened and closed my hand. I tried to ignore it for a couple of weeks hoping it would go away – but it didn’t.
After examining my thumb and taking an x-ray, my doctor explained that this was an inflammatory condition that affect the tendons in the thumb so when you try to straighten your finger, it will lock or catch before popping out straight and could possibly move on into my other fingers. While the cause of this trigger-like popping of the finger is usually unknown, there are factors that put people at greater risk for developing it such as diabetes and auto-immune diseases – both of which I have.
The doctor suggested a cortisteriod injection to begin with and if the problem recurred I might consider surgery. I didn’t like the way the cortisteriod raised my blood glucose levels from prior injections. Then I remembered how well Lifewave’s IceWave Pain Patches worked on my back and knees, I figured it was worth trying on my thumb. I wondered though, how could I hold the patches on all day while I used my left hand? Well, I put the white IceWave right above my thumb in the web area just to the right, and I put the tan patch on the back of my hand right near the bottom of my thumb and applied Band-Aids.
It worked!! Within a week I noticed that painful popping and clicking wasn’t happening. This afternoon I made a Diaper Cake for a friend – thanks LifeWave!!
