A recent study published in The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine¹ showed that stimulating acupoint Governing Vessel 20 (GV20) increases blood flow to the brain without raising arterial blood pressure or pulse rate. Researchers concluded that “GV20 acupuncture treatment increases cerebral blood flow. The results of this small-scale study provide preliminary evidence for acupuncture effectiveness.”
Located near the top of the head, GV20 is a main point for headaches, dizziness, eye pain and irritability. According to an article from the Health Medical Institute, “the researchers have measured the physical effects of GV20 on blood flow to the brain thereby showing one mechanism by which GV20 nourishes the sea of marrow (brain). This also demonstrates physiological changes in the body when GV20 is used to eliminate headaches.”²
Try the protocol below to stimulate GV20 in order to improve overall cognitive function.
- Energy Enhancer: Governing Vessel 20 + Governing Vessel 16
Location: On the top of the head, between the left and right ears
TAN: Governing Vessel 16 (GV16)
Location: On the back of the head, directly below protuberance of the skull
